Name: Raine Benares Race: Elf Job: Seeker, Saghred bond servant, now a reluctant con-artist. I’m getting quite the resume. Goal: Bring down a king, a spy master, and an evil mage—or die trying My family is living proof that crime most definitely pays. Too bad that all the money in the world won’t buy my freedom or break my bond to the Saghred—a legendary stone of power. The Saghred has taken my magical talents from mediocre to monstrous. Not my cup of tea but sadly exactly what every megalomaniac sorcerer, goblin, and politician would like to have. They want that power for themselves—and to get it, they have to get me. And since they’re funded by wealthy and powerful allies, their pockets are deep enough to make it happen. A con-artist cousin has agreed to help me cut holes in those pockets. Our family’s been behind some elaborate cons. But this one involves a king, a spy master, powerful mages, and a renegade prince. To stand even a chance of success, this scam will have to be one for the history books. If we fail, and the Saghred falls into either elf or goblin hands, they will use it against the other, and the seven kingdoms will pay the ultimate price.
